How It Works

Seeing Numbers, The Real Way to Learn Math
has ten modules. The concept of number from 0 to 9, counting, addition and subtraction are taught, practiced and assessed. The modules are broken into segments and the last segment of each module is a "See What You Have Learned" segment. The number of items in any one segment varies from seven to nineteen. The numbers presented in a given module will
appear in future module for reinforcement. The learners responses to the "See What You Have Learned" segment are recorded as right, wrong or not attempted. The program also records a class roll.

Module One (View DEMO) has four segments and presents the concepts of one, two, and three using color, patterns, and shapes. In this module the colors of red and blue, the shapes of circles and squares and three different patterns are used.

Module Two has four segments and presents the concepts of four, five, six and four new patterns for three using color, patterns, and shapes. The concept of zero is also presented in this module. In this module the colors of red and blue, the shapes of circles and squares and six different patterns are used.

Module Three has four segments and presents the concepts of seven, eight, and nine using color, patterns, and shapes. In this module the colors of red and blue, the shapes of circles and squares and three different patterns are used.

Module Four (View DEMO) has five segments and presents the concepts of four, five, six and four new patterns for three using color, patterns, and shapes. In this module the colors of red, blue, and yellow, the shapes of circles and squares, and three different patterns are used. In this module a few objects such as balls, fruits, and hearts are used.

Module Five has four segments and contains the graphics of zero to nine using color, patterns, and shapes. In this module the colors of red and blue, the shapes of circles and squares and seven different patterns are used. The critical difference in this module is that each graphic is presented with two colors.

Module Six has three segments and presents the operation of addition patterns using color, patterns, and shapes. In this module the colors of red and blue, the shapes of circles and squares are used. This module introduces the concept of another name for the same number and presents the new name in a number sentence. Different phrases such as "another name for the same number", "the same as", "is equal to" are used. Mathematical sentences using + and = are presented.

Module Seven (View DEMO) has three segments and presents the operation of addition patterns using color, patterns, and shapes. In this module the colors of red and blue, the shapes of circles and squares are used. This module introduces the concept of another name for the same number and presents the new name in a number sentence. Different phrases such as "another name for the same number", "the same as", "is equal to" are used. Mathematical sentences using + and = are presented. This module includes the addends for 2, 3, 4, and 5.

Module Eight has three segments and presents the operation of addition patterns for using color, patterns, and shapes. In this module the colors of red and blue, the shapes of circles and squares are used. This module introduces the concept of another name for the same number and presents the new name in a number sentence. Different phrases such as" another name for the same number", "the same as", "is equal to" are used. Mathematical sentences using + and = are presented. This module includes the addends for 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9.

Module Nine has three segments and presents the operation of addition using color, patterns, and shapes. In this module the colors of red and blue, the shapes of circles and squares are used. This module introduces the concept of another name for the same number and presents the new name in a number sentence. Different phrases such as "another name for the same number", "the same as", "is equal to", "and", and "plus" are used. Mathematical sentences using + and = are presented. This module includes the addends for 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. The language of fact families is used.

Module Ten (View DEMO) has three segments and presents the operation of subtraction using color, patterns, and shapes. In this module the colors of red and blue, the shapes of circles and squares are used. This module introduces the concept of another name for the same number and presents the new name in a number sentence. Different phrases such as" another name for the same number", "the same as", "is equal to" "take away", "is less then", is fewer than" are used. Mathematical sentences using - and = are presented. This module includes the subtraction names for 6, 7, 8, and 9.
